Relapse
Prevention Treatment: Our
relapse prevention program is intensive, focused, and highly structured to help
the individual and their families understand and recognize the warning signs of
relapse and design effective strategies prior to a relapse to promote long term
recovery. Statistics show that without a relapse prevention plan to recognize,
avoid, and cope with the "triggers" associated with relapse, individuals often
relapse into the same behaviors that brought them into treatment. While education
for both the client and concerned supportive others is a large part of relapse
prevention, New Dawn recognizes the need to identify and work with the behaviors
and underlying issues that take the individual back into active addiction.
Co-Occurring/Dual
Diagnosis: The
terms dual diagnosis, co-occurring, concurrent disorders, multi-occurring, and
co-morbid disorders often used interchangeably, describe a condition where an
individual is affected by chemical dependence, emotional, and/or a psychiatric
illness. While co-occurring conditions are independent from the substance abuse,
interaction between the conditions makes treatment and recovery more complex for
the individual. The professional staff at New Dawn understands that failure to
treat the co-occurring disorder in the dual diagnosed client may exacerbate the
problem and inhibit recovery time and therefore has developed a treatment plan
specifically to integrate both clinical and psychiatric approaches. It is important
to understand that medical conditions are also co-occurring and will be treated
concurrently as well. At New Dawn Recovery we develop and treat the whole person,
mind, body, and spirit.
Family/Concerned Other
Workshops: The
disease of addiction adversely affects the whole family system. For this reason
New Dawn is committed to including the family/Concerned others in our clients
treatment program. Families will be educated on the disease process, co-occurring
disorders if they exist in their loved one, confidentiality, enabling and supporting,
relapse triggers and recognition, and the recovery process for the client and
themselves. New Dawns therapists maintain weekly contact with the client's significant
others to include but not limited to; spouses, siblings, children, employers,
friends, and any others that may be important to enhance the clients recovery.
Our family component includes individual therapy, group process, and workshops
to integrate the families as a whole.
Compulsive
Behaviors; sex, gambling: Many
individuals present with behaviors that are not conducive to recovery. At New
Dawn our staff recognizes and treats behaviors that prevent personal growth and
long term recovery. These behaviors can include but are not limited to sexual
compulsivity, gambling addiction, eating, and other compulsions that affect a
person's life creating chaos and hopelessness. Our clinical team addresses and
treats these compulsions as any other addiction. With specialized education and
training we create a plan specific to each client's needs and issues.
Legal
Alternative Options: The
disease of addiction is the cause of many "personal consequences," legal issues
to often being one of them. Our staff has experience working with attorneys, probation,
and the courts to find alternative options to jail terms and other penalties.
In
addition to clinical services, we provide case management to include:
Court liaison services Monthly status reports Court ordered
evaluations Pre-trial requirements Drug court requirements
DUI classes
Eating Disorders/Body Image: Body
image issues involve negative feelings towards oneself and often can lead to an
eating disorder. Body image develops out of perception, is psychological in nature,
influenced by self-esteem and then by psychical appearance as others sees them.
Body image issues and eating disorders arise from a variety of physical, emotional,
family, social, and peer issues that all need to be addressed while in treatment.
At New Dawn Recovery, our professional staff of clinicians, psychiatrists,
and medical team design a tailored treatment plan to address their needs and strengths,
with careful attention to medical, psychological, and nutritional issues.
Chronic Pain Management: Pain
is a normal part of life. When it persists it becomes unmanageable, chronic, and
to often leads to substance abuse of the medications that were meant to help us,
but are now destroying our lives. Chronic pain syndrome takes years to develop
and damage a person's life beyond their bodies. While curing or eliminating pain
would be wonderful, we understand that pain is not always ending. Chronic pain
is enduring and with the proper treatment a person can be restored to health and
better daily functioning. Our comprehensive team of clinical and medical staff
creates a treatment plan that utilizes methods to assist each client achieve their
fullest potential.
